Argentina's mining history dates back to the 16th century when Spanish conquistadors arrived in the region, in search of gold and silver. In the 1990s, Argentina's mining industry experienced a resurgence with the modernization of exploration techniques and the discovery of new mineral deposits. Today, the country's mining sector is one of the largest in Latin America, with significant reserves of copper, gold, lithium, and other minerals.
